Traditional Black & Grey
Smooth gradients and deliberate contrast, built to stay readable for decades on deep skin tones.
About
Tattoo Artist, Piercer, Owner — Burlington, North Carolina.
Destiny opened Desína Ink Tattoos as the first — and still the only — Black woman-owned tattoo studio in Alamance County.
That milestone matters less as a headline than as a reason. She spent years watching clients with deep skin tones get turned away, talked out of color, or handed work that healed flat and grey because the artist had never learned to build for their skin. Being the first meant she could build a room where that conversation simply never happens.
Her specialization in melanated skin is technical, not symbolic. Saturation depth, pigment undertone, contrast that survives healing, linework weighted for readability — these are decisions she makes on every piece, and they're the reason her healed portfolio looks the way it does a year out, not just on the day of the session.
She works across traditional black and grey, neo-traditional, floral, realism and surrealism, traditional Asian, and color, and she pierces as well. Her restorative practice — areola tattooing after mastectomy, reconstruction, and top surgery — grew out of the same skill set: matching pigment to real skin, carefully, with patience.

What a session feels like
That's not marketing copy — it's the phrase clients keep reaching for on their own across 81 five-star reviews. Expect a real consultation, a stencil you actually approve, breaks whenever you need them, music, conversation if you want it and quiet if you don't. People routinely describe walking out with a confidence boost.
